What do you most admire in the world of Lodi wine, and why?
All the hard working local growers, who grow premium wine grapes and are often overlooked. Coming from a farming family with over 100 years of tradition and experience, we know it’s a thankless job. Quality wines begin in the vineyard! -Scott
How’d you get started?
In 2010, my brother Tom and I, decided to get into commercial wine making at Estate Crush. Since we produce and sell 1600-1800 tons of grapes annually, we thought “why not crush some grapes for a family label”. For guidance, we hired Matt Ridge to be our wine consultant and Jon Wetmore to be our vineyard manager. -Leslie
What’s your winemaking style?
We select our best, most interesting grapes from the vineyards and carefully choose the appropriate barreling and aging process. And practice patience in the process! – Tom
Do you have a favorite wine you’ve made?
I have three favorites: 2017 Sauvignon Blanc, 2015 Chardonnay, and 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon—all vintages sustainably grown and certified by Lodi Rules. -Leslie
