Krazy for Kombucha

By Suzanne Ledbetter

Have you jumped on the Kombucha craze?

The refreshing and effervescent fermented beverage has been around for over 2,000 years, but has recently seen a resurgence in popularity—due to its serious health benefits, including improved digestion and immune function. Kombucha is a sugar and tea solution, fermented by bacteria and yeast commonly referred to as a SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast).

If you’re looking to step up your gut health, look no further than Lodi Airport Café.  Owner Joanne Kupka and her daughter, Jennifer Kingston, became cheerleaders for Kombucha over a decade ago. Jennifer often found herself ordering Kombucha at restaurants while travelling, so the pair decided to bring the tasty concoction to their establishment.

Kombucha on tap was the perfect fit for the farm to fork eatery in Acampo which aims to bring healthy and convenient options to guests. Even more impressive, is how the flavor changes every couple of weeks. The Coconut Lime Kombucha is a crowd pleaser, but the Blood Orange is pretty tasty too.

With the New Year and possibly new health goals in mind, consider trying Kombucha. You won’t be disappointed!
