5 Ways to Cope with Work Stress

Heart Healthy Lifestyle Changes

The statistics on workplace stress aren’t pretty, but these days, it seems like we’re all willing to accept stress as a part of our lives. But that shouldn’t be the case; job stress can lead to poor work performance, and can take a toll on you emotionally, mentally, and physically. To avoid serious health problems that are associated with stress, such as high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease, learn how to manage – and reduce – your work stress with these steps.

  1. Healthy Eating Choices. Make sure your lunches and breakfasts are nutritious. Start by eliminating unnecessary sugars and cutting down on caffeine – this will be healthier overall but will also help you avoid an afternoon crash that can you leave you cranky. Make sure to add heart healthy foods to your diet, too!

  1. Exercise. Though working out may be the last thing you want to do after work (or before), exercise is a seriously effective method of stressbusting. Start simply, like by taking a walk after you finish your lunch. Exercise can also help elevate your mood, in addition to generally being good for your health.

  1. Seek Support. Whether it’s finding a therapist or speaking with your supervisor, it’s imperative that you find ways to cope with and manage work stress before it negatively affects your performance. And make sure to spend time with loved ones outside of work; research has shown that social interaction can have a positive impact on your health.

  1. This one may seem easier said than done, but a regular lack of sleep can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, amongst other health issues. And as you’ve probably noticed, when you’re tired, you’re more likely to be irritable and stressed. If you find yourself struggling to sleep, try to avoid screen time within a few hours of bed time, and stick to a regular sleep schedule, even on weekends. You could also try taking some CBD products, which have been shown to help people who are having trouble sleeping or have other issues like insomnia. People tend to love using CBD products so much that they consider buying wholesale cbd gummies and other products to sell to their friends and family who are also having issues with their mental and physical health.

  1. Cut Out Bad Habits. We all know how bad smoking is for your health, but if you’re a regular smoker, you may be worried that quitting will add to your stress. However, the long-term benefits that being smoke free will have on your health will be worth it. And while it may be tempting to unwind after work every night with a drink, be careful – moderate drinking is fine, but excessive amounts can be detrimental to your heart health.
