Father, Butcher, Family Man

The Butcher Shoppe’s Joe Fiori

When it comes time to celebrate Father’s Day, there is only one requirement: serve dad some beef. But we aren’t talking about your run of the mill, average steak from a big chain grocery store. We’re suggesting you head on over to Fiori’s Butcher Shoppe for quality meat brought to you by a father, butcher, and family man—Joe Fiori.

The Butcher Shoppe is a fixture in the Lodi food scene. Joe and his wife Barbara opened the Butcher Shoppe in 1983 and have been pumping out quality cuts and sandwiches ever since. In the early days of the shop, Joe would cure his own pastrami, corned beef, smoked salmon, and homemade bratwurst, earning himself the nickname, the Godfather of all things beef.

In honor of Father’s Day, we’ve asked Joe to tell us his top picks to celebrate dad in style.

  1. Filet Mignon. Joe always keeps the finest beef tenderloin at the shoppe. He will slice it to any thickness you desire and even season it with the family’s secret seasoning blend.
  2. Tri-Tip. Joe has two powerhouse staples available for grilling: Italian and teriyaki. The tri-tip comes vacuum packed in the marinade to lock in flavor.
  3. Flank Steak. We’re guessing its Joe’s expertise of working with meat his entire life, but this marinated flank steak is juicy, tender, and cooks up in under ten minutes on the grill.
  4. Beef Jerky. This is not the stuff you find at Costco. His handmade beef jerky is the perfect gift for dads everywhere to nosh.
