LODI’S BRONZE SCULPTURES

bronze sculptIf you’ve been in downtown Lodi recently, chances are, you’re familiar with the bronze statues making appearances on each street corner. The incredibly lifelike bronze sculptures are works of art made by internationally renowned artist Seward Johnson. Each of the statues are part of a traveling exhibition of public artwork depicting celebrities like Marylyn Monroe, and images of the ‘every day man.’ Each sculpture, including their individual accessories and clothing, are made entirely from bronze.

Johnson’s work has been featured all over the world, in both private and public collections from Istanbul to London, Paris to Hong Kong and Rome to Sydney, among many others. In addition, Johnson is the only American artist invited to represent the U.S. at the Seville World Expo in Spain. But you don’ t have to travel the world to see his fantastic pieces!

The statues will be on display in various public places throughout Lodi until mid-July, and has been made possible by the collaboration of The Seward Johnson Atelier, Inc. and the city of Lodi’s Art in Public Places Art Advisory Board. Don’t miss your chance to see this amazing traveling exhibition!
