O LOVE Local Oil

IMG_0265By Nora Heston Tarte

Used as a bread dipper or a butter substitute, olive oil popularity has picked up with local vineyards that are perfecting the craft. With original offerings and unusual flavors, it can be hard to choose which dressing to drizzle on your holiday salad. If you’re looking to go local, try the organic, nonGMO-certified, sustainably farmed Bozzano Olive Ranch, run by fourth generation San Joaquin Valley farmers in Stockton. Step outside of the box with the Blood Orange Organic Flavored Olive Oil. The citrus taste adds a dose of deep blood orange flavor to any dish, from cakes to chutney.

Olives are milled from October to December during fall harvest and available in two sizes, 250 ML and 500 ML. The blood orange flavor, which is also gluten-free, was rolled out in August, along with three other new, organic flavors—Fresh Garlic, Meyer Lemon, and Basil—as well as four organic balsamic vinegars—Traditional, Apricot, Fig, and Bing Cherry.
