These beautiful moments are what the High Tea parties held by the Corner Scone Bakery bring to the table. Mother and daughter Terrie Green and Tara Miller host these events each Saturday afternoon out of the Hidden Tea Room, a piece of paradise tucked away in a separate building just south of their bakery. Their sensational hostess skills, matched with the bakery’s batches of sweets and soothing blends of tea, are just the ticket to draw in a myriad of guests.
And how was such a well-received occasion first concocted? Tara explains that it had been an idea of her mother’s. “My mom loves entertaining and there’s no local tea rooms to take tea, so we were filling that need for the community. It’s just really fun for the both of us!”
During High Tea, each guest can settle into their seat and prepare for a multitude of miniature courses. These delectable dishes are served at fifteen-minute intervals, providing you and your dining companions with ample time for conversation and digging in! Each menu is arranged to suit the atmosphere of that particular party and often decorated according to the latest season or holiday, ensuring that no two visits are ever alike!
Scones, fresh and hot out of the oven, are what you’ll find sliding across your china plate. Smother on some lemon curd or sweet butter before sinking your teeth in! Savory items such as a slice of quiche or a puff pastry are also fine contenders that are switched into the menu. Enjoy tea sandwiches prepared with bread from Genova Bakery in Stockton and make sure your sweet tooth is primed for Corner Scone’s own specialties! Whether they’re petifores, cupcakes, or shortbread, the plethora of small-portioned pastries will leave you hankering for more long after you head out the door.
